Crazy, correct?! The best bloody mary recipe that I'm actually into is not something I thought I'd find this summertime.
And who would take e'er thought a encarmine mary could be SO pretty?
It's no secret that I don't loooove bloody marys.
For years I've documented my distaste for tomato sauce that started (or but… existed?) when I was a kid. I've never loved anything tomato-sauce based. At all!
But encarmine marys have also been my "coffee" of this decade. And what I mean by that is that I Desire to like them. I hateful, I want to honey them. I want to sit at brunch and social club a bloody mary that has all kinds of stuff on top, like tacos and pizza and cheeseburgers. Or heck, I'd even be happy with merely bacon and olives.
P.S. my favorite encarmine mary on the net is this light-green monster version. Isn't information technology amazing?!
Another reason for my complete horror at bloody marys is because they tend to have soooo much celery in them. And celery is the worst. Information technology's something that I'one thousand almost positive I will never enjoy. The just matter coming in at a shut second is fennel seeds. And and then raisins, of grade.
Oddly enough, I don't actually mind celery salt. Because it'southward non so much the flavor, it's the texture and/or the weird stringy crisis of the veg. So don't yell at me: you will find a touch of celery salt hither! Oooooh.
Anyway! The thing is that when I was meaning with Max, I kind of got into tomato saucy things. It was minimal, of course, compared to others. Just it stuck. And then I developed the recipe for our favorite Bolognese in The Pretty Dish. And I can say with certainty that it's probably i of my favorite recipes of all time. I could fifty-fifty swallow information technology weekly!
When I gave encarmine marys some other endeavor, I realized that every bit long every bit I was in control of the base, I even semi-enjoyed them. That meant using tequila instead of vodka and that led to the twisted salary bloody maria in The Pretty Dish too. OMG – now that is celery-costless sky.
Inspired by all the stunning gem heirloom tomatoes here (we take the best tomatoes ever in PA!), I wanted to make a fresher base with an heirloom juice. I envisioned information technology to exist just similar a fresh rainbow juice that swirls together, and I was right! That takes a fiddling extra work, meaning you blend the colors of tomatoes separately (really merely for fun, y'all know?), but the stop result is so fresh and pretty.
Then it's combined with some spices and seasonings that sauces that y'all'd normally reserve for something savory. Finish it with a smoked paprika rim. And it tastes GOOD.
I'm in to it.
Fresh Heirloom Tomato Bloody Marys
Fresh Heirloom Tomato Bloody Mary's are the freshest update on this archetype drink. Using seasonal heirloom tomato plant juice, these brand a cute rainbow in a glass!
heirloom tomato juice
- ane large light-green heirloom tomato
- i large red/nighttime heirloom love apple
- 1 large yellow/orange heirloom lycopersicon esculentum
for the rim
- coarse sea common salt
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon ancho chile pulverisation
- a pinch of blackness pepper
for a unmarried serving
- one/iii loving cup fresh heirloom tomato juice
- three ounces fresh lime juice
- 2 ounces pickle juice from a jar of pickles
- ane teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ teaspoon celery common salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 compression of black pepper
- 1 driblet of hot sauce
- 1 ½ ounces vodka

To make the juice, alloy the lightest (in color) tomatoes until pureed and blended. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large measuring cup or glass. I started with the greenish, went to the yellow and went to blood-red. I seasoned each of the juices a bit with salt and pepper, but didn't do much more than since the bloody mary has so much flavor!
for a unmarried serving:

Stir together the salt, paprika, chile pulverisation and pepper on a plate. Rim the drinking glass with a lime wedge and dip the rim in the table salt mixture. Fill up the glass with water ice.

In a cocktail shaker or blender, add together the tomato plant juice, lime juice, pickle juice, Worcestershire, celery table salt, garlic powder, pepper and hot sauce. Shake or blend until combined. Pour over the ice and stir in the tequila. Garnish with a pickle or cucumber, a pepperoncini and cherry tomatoes.
Reeeeally complements some chips. And a cheeseburger.
